TIM SYDLOWSKI WINS GUESSTIMATE RACE

     Tim Sydlowski won his first guesstimate race by missing his finishing time by one second on March 14, 2011.  Rounding out the top five are:  John Araujo 2- 2 second miss, Nam Ngo 2- 2 second miss, Bernie Kress 4- 7 second miss and Kie Soohoo 5- 8 second miss.

              DAVE PARSEL WINS MARCH 2011 5K  IN 17:44

      Thirty-six runners participated in the March 14, 2011 5K as Dave Parsel won his 118th race in a time of 17:44.  Rounding out the top five were John Araujo 2- 18:59, Tim Hickok 3- 19:30, Paul Shanley 4- 19:30 and Nam Ngo 5- 20:02.   

      Sheila King ran a 20:26 today, the 2nd fastest time ever recorded by a female,  Nicole Blalock ran a 19:04 in Oct 2007 and Jill Spencer ran a 20:59 in Jan 1999.  Shelia also ran the fastest time for any female in the 40-49 age range.

      Five runner’s established personal bests (PB) led by Barbara Boteler, who lowered her PB by 4:07.  Others setting PB’s were: Dan Pettibone (52 seconds lower), Sheila King (32 seconds better), Linda Creason (10 seconds better) and Katherine Rupley (5 second miss).  Congrats to all.

     The next 5K is scheduled for 11:50 AM Monday, April 11 at Gate 510 on the northwest corner of the Boeing Seal Beach Facility

           ANNUAL SEAL BEACH 5K/10K IS ON APRIL 2, 2011

     The annual Seal Beach 5K/10K held by the City of Seal Beach will be held at 8 AM on Saturday, April 2, 2011.

         Note the e-mail below regarding the annual Seal Beach 5K/10K being held on April 2nd.  If you are a Boeing employee or retiree please note that on your registration for the race.
 
Hi Nelson, Elizabeth and I are busy planning this April's race (April 2nd at 8 AM) and we wanted to say hi and work with you to get the Boeing run club more involved this year. We want to offer the Boeing employees a very low registration price if you or the main contact in the office can help coordinate everyone. We will get a special registration form printed up which can be distributed around the office.
 We have also been working with Vanessa Pereda in the community investor office to see if we qualify for Boeing's sponsorship since we are non-profit and all our proceeds go to support other non-profit and Cancer support groups.

 RALPH ‘INDIANA JONES’ WETTERHAHN SPEAKING AT BALD EAGLES ON APRIL 30TH

  Below is an e-mail regarding the annual Bald Eagles Luncheon on Saturday, April 30, 2011.   The guest speaker, Ralph 'Indiana Jones' Wetterhahn, is one of our veteran runners of our monthly Seal Beach Lunch Hour 5K and one of the 22 members of our Seal Beach Runners Hall of Fame.  I am sure you will enjoy Ralph’s speech.

       I will be driving to the event.  I would be interested in car pooling if anyone wants to meet me close to Beach Blvd and the 405 freeway about 9:45 AM.

         The 49th Annual Bald Eagles Reunion will be held---Saturday, April 30, 2011 at:  The Proud Bird Restaurant;  11022 Aviation Blvd.  (at 111th street);  Los Angeles, CA  90045.

The Honorary Speaker will be: Ralph Wetterhahn who is a real life Aviation Archaeologist “Indiana Jones” who has searched all over the World for aircraft wrecks of our nation’s armed forces and any associated missing in action.

     Doors open for Social at 10:00A.M.    Seating for Lunch at 12:00 Noon.   Attendance cost is $30.00 for advance reservations and $33.00 at the door.
