JOHN ARAUJO JR WINS JULY 5K IN 18:27

John Araujo, Jr. won the August 13, 2007 5K in a time of 18:01.   John Araujo, Jr. is the son of John Araujo and was running his 2nd lunch hour 5K.  John Araujo, Jr at 16 is the youngest runner to win the 5K. Rounding out the top five are: John Araujo 2- 18:24, Dave Parsel 3- 18:29, Troy Belme 4- 20:01 and Jason Armenta 5- 21:29.                     

     Three runners established a personal best led by John Araujo Jr. who lowered his PB by 3:07.  Jim Scianni lowered his PB by 31 seconds in his 67th race and Wendy Leung lowered her PB by 15 seconds.  Jim Scianni’s PB in his 67th race is remarkable.  Not many set a PB after 50 races.

          Welcome back Troy Belme who last ran the 5K in 1995.

    The next 5K is scheduled for 11:50 AM Monday, September 10, 2007 at Gate 510.

 

ANAHEIM WINS TEAM EVENT - BARELY

     Anaheim won the July 9th team event with a team time of 109:50 and total places of 40.  Huntington Beach was 2nd with also 40 places and a total time of 110:54.  Thus the two teams tied in places but Anaheim’s 5 runners were faster than Huntington Beach’s 5 runners by 64 seconds.  Corporate was 3rd with total places of 69 and total time of 124:18.  Aerospace was 4th with total places of 105 and total time of 141:39.   Aerospace now leads Corporate in the cum series 146-73-13.  Counting the two races in 2006 as part of 2007, Anaheim leads Huntington Beach 6-3. 

     Pacing Anaheim were John Araujo. Jr. 1- 18:01, John Araujo 2- 18:24, Jim Heller 6- 21:47, David Rusher 12- 24:13 and Rick Salas 19- 27:15.  Huntington Beach was led by: Dave Parsel 3- 18:29, Jason Armenta 5- 21:29, Peter Lew 8- 22:46, Michelle DeJong 11- 23:42 and Wendy Leung 13- 24:28.  Corporate was paced by:  Todd Byers 9- 23:10, Ed Loh 10- 23:13, Tim Sydlowski 15- 24:43, Cathy Sejansky 17- 26:13, and Tim Hood 18- 26:59.  Aerospace was led by: Troy Belme 4- 20:01, Ralph Wetterhahn 23- 28:45, Garland Smith 24- 30:13, Natalie Scianni 27- 32:50, and Jim Scianni 27- 32:50.

                             NO ONE QUALIFIES FOR MIXED TEAM  EVENT

     No team had 5 runners for the mixed team event.

     Aerospace leads Corporate in the cum series 114-56-46.

     Aerospace’s four runners were: Joan McIntyre 29- 39:55, Katherine Rupley 30- 40:24, Ed Cohn 32- 40:45 and Soula Thomas 33- 41:33.  Corporate’s four runners were: Kimberly Boyd 20- 27:21, Oliver Black 21- 27:56, Ralph Castro 22- 28:38 and Nelson Slagle 36- 50:37.
