JIM HELLER AND TIM HICKOK
WIN GUESSTIMATE RACE
Tim Hickok and Jim Heller both missed heir guesstimate time
by two seconds to win the guesstimate race on September 12, 2010. Jim and
Tim both accomplished a rare feat, winning the guesstimate twice in one year.
The last time a runner won two guesstimate races in a year was in 2008
when Peter Lew and David Rusher won twice. The other double winner in a
year since 2001 was Jim Heller in 2004 and 2005. Jim has won a record 9
guesstimate races.
Rounding
out the top five were Rick Salas and Lin Lynn 3- (3 second miss) and Randy
Parker 5 – (5 second miss).
DAVE
PARSEL WINS SEPTEMBER 2010 5K IN 17:40
Forty-one runners participated in the September 12, 2010 as Dave Parsel won his
112th race in a time of 17:40. Rounding out the top five were
Brian Conboy 2- 18:16, David Schiller 3- 18:26, John Araujo 4- 19:38 and Andy
Born 5- 19:44. The same first four runners also finished 1st thru 4th
last month.
Seven
runners finished under 20 minutes, the most since 8 ran under 20 minutes in
January 2005.
We
had 41 runners today, the most in September since 41 ran in 2003. This
was the 5th month this year we had at least 40 runners, the first
time that has happened since 2005.
Five
runners established personal bests led by Stanley Mak who lowered his PB by
1:13. Other runners establishing PB’s were: Chris King (58 seconds
better), Jon Steinberg (35 seconds better), Lin Lynn (28 seconds better) and
Andi Kang (1 second better). Chris King lowered his PB for the 4th time
in the last 5 months. Congrats to all of the PB setters.
Emmett Rahl race walked the 5K in a time of 32:37. I believe that is the fastest time this
course has ever been race walked.
Congrats Emmett.
The
next 5K is scheduled for 11:50 AM Monday, October 11, 2010 at Gate 510.
JOAN MCINTYRE CELEBRATION OF LIFE OCT 1ST
John McIntyre (Joan’s husband) sent me the following e-mail:
“I
am John McIntyre, the husband of Joan McIntyre who recently passed away. We are
having a Celebration of Life for her on Friday, October 1 at 10 AM
If possible, Joan’s family would like this information circulated among (i.e.
emailed to) the Boeing 5K runners in the hope that some of these people would
show up at the Celebration ceremony. Also, if you could dragoon a few
into preparing something to say when the mike is passed around it would be much
appreciated.”

your memories, stories, experiences, joys, thoughts, and pictures with family
and friends.
Friday
October 1st 2010,
at 10:00 a.m.
El
Dorado Park West
South
East Corner of Studebaker & Willow
Long Beach CA, 90815
Our
intention is that Joan’s Celebration of Life be a casual and informal
affair. This is why we have chosen a Park Setting. It is in tune with Joan’s
love of camping and the outdoors. So nothing as formal as an RSVP will
be requested. For obvious reason, however, a rough estimate of how many people
might come is needed. So we would very much appreciate the favor of a reply
from each family or group planning to attend. Listed below is a phone number
and email address for Joan’s son (John) who you can contact to assist with our
planning. (714) 514 6739 johnmcintyre@socal.rr.com
Lunch
will be served after the ceremonies
