| NOTE: The first race was held on April 27, 1981, but it was a one mile guesstimate race on the dirt running track next to the | ||||||||
| new portable building fitness center. There were dedication ceremonies than 62 runners (2 heats of 31 runners each) ran a | ||||||||
| mile on the track trying to match their guesstimate. Two runners were off by a second including Tracy Brown who guessed | ||||||||
| 6:00 and ran a 6:01 mile. One runner missed their time by 2 seconds and 3 by 3 seconds. Fifty-six of 62 runners ran under their | ||||||||
| predicted time and the two co-winners were one second over their predicted time. Thus 58 of 62 runners were under their | ||||||||
| time or one second over. | ||||||||
| On April 28, 1981, about 50 runners ran a 5K on the track. There were two races. The first was for runners that expected to | ||||||||
| finish under 25 minutes and the 2nd race was for the remaining runners. Sixteen ran in the first race and about 34 in the | ||||||||
| second race. The results above were taken from a letter I had written that evening about the race I ran in never expecting the | ||||||||
| noon time 5K's to continue for 29+ years. I only jotted down times for 26 finishers (all 16 in the first race and 10 from the 2nd | ||||||||
| race) and those are included above. I combined all 26 runners and listed the 26 runners by time. | ||||||||
