PHIL HENSLEY IS 2000 CHAMP BY FOUR POINTS
Phil Hensley won one of the closest races ever by edging Scott Brandenburg by 4 points
and Blake Vasquez by 10 points.  The only game Phil and Scott disagreed on was Cleveland
at New Jersey and Phil correctly picked underdog Cleveland to win.  Both incorrectly picked
underdog New York and Toronto (yes, Boston and Orlando was favored).   Blake also picked
the same two underdogs incorrectly but correctly picked the Spurs over the Lakers in an even
game.   But it wasn't enough to catch Phil or Scott.
Phil Hensley also won 1977 basketball and 1971 football.  Phil's last top five finish was in 1995
when he finished 3rd.   Phil has predicted 98 seasons of baseball, football and basketball
which is 9 more than third place John Baker at 89.  There have been 103 prediction seasons.
Phil is also ranked 9th in basketball predicts all time and is 6th leading predictor in all time
predicts.  None of the top four basketball predictors were in the top eight finishers this season.
Al Manzey was predictor of the week beating runner up Hammer and Gerry Hamilton by 40
points.  Al picked 3 more winners than anyone else and jumped from 17th to 12th in the process.
Al correctly picked Boston, Cleveland and Dallas - great predicts Al!!
Two veteran predictors had a late season dive and finished 16th and 17th.  Rick Higgins won 1999
football and is last in 2000 basketball!  The 233 points between first and last is the lowest margin
ever breaking the record of 298 set in 1998.
The Odds were 14th after week nine but finished under average the last 7 weeks to move up to
second if they would have been included in the standings!!
Will revise final standings when Bob Scholl's predict is received in the mail.
NBA predicts due before first game on Saturday, April 22nd.  Form is on my web site.
Thanks to all who predicted, especially you that predicted via e-mail!
