MARK JOHNSON IS THE 2003 FOOTBALL PREDICTING CHAMP
Mark Johnson won the 2003 football prediction contest but needed a win in the final game of the season, a win by
Baltimore to win.  Mark Johnson also finished 1st in 1995 and 2000 and finished 2nd in 1992 and 1998.  He has finished
in the top 5 for the last 6 years and he is the all time leading football predictor.  The top three finishers this season are
also are top 3 football predictors of all time.
Great finish to the season.  The title was decided on the last game of the season and 3rd place was decided on the 2nd
and 3rd games from the end of the regular season.   If Oakland would have won, Bob Thomas would have ended in 3rd
place.  If the Giants would have won, Gerry Hamilton would have finished 3rd.  With Carolina and San Diego prevailing,
Slag secured the 3rd spot.  By Baltimore winning by 7 or less, Bob edged Gerry for 4th by a single point.
Randy Lang and Shawn Dunaway tied for  Predictor of the Week honors.  Shawn's key pick was Seattle over SF.  Randy's
key pick was New Orleans over Dallas.   Shawn was one of 11 predictors to pick 11 winners, but had excellent spreads.
Randy Lang was only predictor to pick 12 winners.
No game had more than 5 predictors picking each team to win.  Closest vote was 16 picking Carolina over the NY Giants.
Nineteen of 21 picked SF over Seattle in a game the Odds had as an even game.  No one picked the upsets by Cleveland
over Cincinnati and Detroit over St Louis
The Odds, if counted as a predictor, would have easily won by 89 points.  This would have been the Odds 7th victory
since 1990 if they were counted as a predictor.
Mark Johnson, Bob Scholl and Bob Koller picked 228 winners one more then Bob Thomas and Jim Slagle.
Thanks to all for predicting this season.   First basketball predicts will be due Jan 6, 2004.  More later on basketball.
